Help with history homework (probably very easy to americans)?

People blamed the democrats for Vietnam and the backlash at home from it. Many in the south hated the Democrats because of the push for equal rights for blacks too. The Democrats held the Presidency, so people blamed them, but the Republicans didn't take time off. About half of congress was still republican.
