I just bought my first pair of ice skates (figure), how do i know if they have been sharpened?

I'm 13 years old and I just got my first pair of ice skates (figure) and the skates are new but I don't know if they have been sharpened or not? I'm going ice skating on friday and i'm not sure whether i should get them sharpened just before i go, any ideas? Thank you :)
